Sign up Online before the Event

Where possible would be participants in the Challenge are asked to sign up online using this website. This helps with organisation by giving an idea of numbers and we need to put together the Scoring System to track each participants runs prior to the event - so it's a real help to sign up online.

Lift Tickets

The Challenge will be achieved using the M1 Poma (Subject to weather/snow) for uplift. All participants must have a valid Snowsports Ticket for the day to register in the T-bar. This may be a Day Ticket, Multi-Day Ticket or Season Pass.

Day Tickets should be bought from the Base Station Ticket Office if buying on the day, or alternatively can be purchased online at www.cairngormmountain.org.uk . If purchasing tickets on the day we advise you check with the Registration Desk in the T-bar that the event is still going ahead if there are any doubts over Weather/Snow Conditions prior to buying your ticket.

On the Day Registration

All participants whether signed up on-line or not must register on the day with the White Lady Challenge Team in the T-bar in Level 2 of the Daylodge between 8.30am and 10am.

Participants who have signed up on-line please bring along your Sponsor Forms on the Day so we can stamp your form and estimate the amount raised.

All Participants will be required to sign a Registration Form confirming they agree to the Rules, Terms and Conditions of the White Lady Challenge, including waving the Event Organisers and associated good causes from any liability to participation in Snowsports.

Would be participants who have not signed up on-line may do so on the Saturday, but a minimum self sponsorship of £10 is required.

Undertaking the Challenge and Scoring

The aim of the Challenge is for each participant to raise money by completing as many descents as possible during normal lift operating hours on Saturday 15th March 2008.

All Participants must use the designated lift for uplift in order for their descents to count (technically we're counting uplifts) and subject to weather and snow conditions on the day the designated lift will be the M1 Poma

The intention is that most competitors who are confident in riding the White Lady will use this run if it is available. A recommended route will be posted at the Registration in the T-bar, but alternative runs may be used. For example if your not comfortable skiing/riding the White Lady all day you may use the M1 RaceTrack either for it's full length or via the link to the 105, or the Traverse, 105 and Coire Cas. Please comply with any run closures posted by Ski Patrol.

Scoring will be kept by an official scorer based at the foot of the M1 Poma, please make sure the official scorer acknowledges and adds a run to your score each time you arrive at the foot of the M1 Poma. In the event that lifts open prior to 9am, only runs commenced after 9am will count.

Please read the Rules Page for a full list of Terms and Conditions of undertaking the Challenge.

End of Day

Following Lift Closure for the Day the organisers will produce a final tally of the descents achieved by each participant.

All Participants remaining till the close of uplift are asked to gather in the Daylodge T-bar at the end of the day. There will be a small number of prizes to give out and sponsorship forms will be completed with the number of descents logged by each participant.

Leaving early on the Saturday

Please check in with the Official Scorer at the M1 Poma prior to leaving to collect your Sponsorship Form and have your number of descents verified.

Shelter and Catering

CML provide full catering facilities in the Ptarmigan Restaurant adjacent to the Top of the M1 Poma and this will be the most convenient catering outlet for participants, however it may be very busy in the middle of the day. The Cas Bar in the Daylodge provides light snacks and soups, as well as hot and cold drinks.

The Scottish Ski Club Hut located near the foot of the White Lady Piste will be available for shelter and eating packed lunches on the Saturday. You may leave rucksacks and extra gear here at your own risk, but neither the Scottish Ski Club or the White Lady Challenge organisers can take any responsibility for items left unattended.

White Lady Challenge at a Glance

  • The Challenge is to complete as many descents of the White Lady (or alternative piste) as you can in one day.
  • The White Lady Challenge takes place on Sat 15th March during normal lift operating hours.
  • Uplift will (unless otherwise stated on the day) be via the M1 Poma (see Who Can Take Part? below).
  • Sign up on this website to recieve a Sponsorship Form.
  • You choose whether your sponsorship money goes to Disability Snowsports UK, the White Lady Tow appeal or both.
  • Participants must register on the day between 8.30am and 10am in the Daylodge.

What Standard of skier/boarder do I need to be?

Though the intention is to use the White Lady Piste, what runs are available will depend on conditions on the day. As the Traverse, 105 and Coire Cas are available as less challenging terrain for the descent the requirement for ability level is to be able to competently and safely ride the M1 Poma (which passes through red graded terrain). Participants on the day may choice to ski/ride whatever middle runs are availabe and officiall open on the day, but the M1 Poma (or other designated lift) must be used for uplift.

All participants in the Challenge must have a valid Snowsports Ticket and these should be purchased from the Base Station Ticket Office prior to registration in the T-bar.

Help, I can't make Saturday

If you can't make Saturday, the event organisers will be completing the Challenge on Monday 17th February and you are more than welcome to join us, please drop us an email to let us know that you are coming on the Monday.
