The White Lady Challenge 2008

How many times can you ski/board the White Lady in a day?

The inaugural White Lady Challenge is this Saturday (15th March) on CairnGorm Mountain. The M1 Poma and all mid level runs served by it are currently open and expected to be open on Saturday.

The White Lady Challenge is about sponsored riders raising funds for Disability Snowsport UK and/or the Cherished Uplift Fund with each descent of the White Lady (or alternative middle run) completed.

The basics of the Challenge are simple, collect as many sponsors as you can, nominate one or both of the chosen benefactors to receive your sponsorship money and then notch up as many descents of the White Lady Piste as you can during lift operating hours.

There will be prizes for the most descents, most outlandish costume and the most sponsorship money raised.

On the Day Registration will also be possible, but you must either have sponsors or make a donation of at least £10 to either Disability Snowsport UK or the Cherished Uplift Fund to be eligible for the Challenge Prizes.

All Participants must Register on the Day in the Daylodge between 8.30am and 10am. This will take place in the Daylodge T-bar (Level 2).

Disability Snowsports UK

Based on CairnGorm Mountain where an adaptive snowsports school operates from the Daylodge, Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) is an organisation with roots going back 30 years and was formally known as the 'Uphill Ski Club'. Disability Snowsport UK believes that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsport and that the opportunity for ‘taking part’ is essential for our therapeutic and social development and thus should be available regardless of disability.

Cherished Uplift Fund - White Lady Appeal

Set up in late summer 2007 the purpose of the Cherished Uplift Fund is to assist in attempting to secure the continued operation of mechanical uplift for snowsports on CairnGorm Mountain that may not otherwise be available. The principle objective is to restore the Iconic White Lady T-bar to regular operation, the T-bar being the only lift that directly serves the full length of CairnGorm's original lift served piste and signature run, the White Lady.
